River Primary School
In maths this term we will continue to consolidate our place value and key number fact learning through our daily maths starters. We will practise counting in different steps and will work on learning and applying times table facts.
The older children will continue to work on learning and applying times table facts whilst the younger children continue to practise and learn number bond facts as well as skip counting forwards and backwards in jumps of 2, 3, 5 and 10. Some of the videos and songs that we use in class can be accessed below for further practise at home, whilst they are new to your child the speed can be slowed down in each of the video settings if required. To support the children in becoming more fluent and faster in their recall, encourage children to keep working on short, daily practice on TTRS and/or Maths Shed!
When learning about fractions, we will recognise, find, name and write fractions 1/3, 1/4, 2/4 and 3/4 of a length, shape, set of objects or quantity and demonstrate understanding that all parts must be equal parts of the whole. We will count up and down in tenths; recognise that tenths arise from dividing an object into 10 equal parts and in dividing one-digit numbers or quantities by 10 and will begin to explore adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominators.
