Safeguarding

At River Primary School we operate within a culture of safety where Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils is fundamental to everything we do.

We undertake training throughout the year (annually) to ensure all staff understand and implement school policies and procedures linked to keeping our children safe.  Safeguarding remains high profile throughout the year with regular updates and refreshers.

All staff proactively promote children’s welfare and are committed to listening to children and developing our partnership with parents. This includes following safer recruitment and vetting, having statutory policies linked to Safeguarding (which includes Child Protection and that has now been updated to include having an understanding of the Prevent Duty and to promote British Values).  Wider policies link to the acceptable use of technology, Equality and Diversity and a staff handbook that sets out clear expectations for all staff.

As a school community we all have a responsibility to safeguard our children and below are a range of policies and procedures to support this.

Our Safeguarding Team

At River, we have a team of Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) who are responsible for overseeing all safeguarding matters.  We also have a named governor, Katy Grilli, who is responsible for monitoring safeguarding at our school.

Victoria Alliston - Head of School and Lead DSL

Tanya Moody - Assistant Head of School and SENCO

Jo Brown - Assistant Head of School

Neil Brinicombe - Executive Headteacher

Leanne Chase - SENCO Assistant
