River Primary School
Northbourne Park Football Tournament
Our 1st football tournament of the season offered the opportunity for all of our football squad to compete in this tournament.
In the group stages both our A an B teams played positive football ensuring that the B team went through to the plate competition and our A team progressed to the cup competition.
Despite playing some lovely football out B team were unfortunately knocked out at this semifinal stage.
In the semifinal our A team played fluent, confident football securing their passage through to the final!
The pressure was on them with River having won this tournament for the past 5 years! The game against Kingsdown was a really close and hard fought game. At full time the score was a draw! Extra time… both teams continued to battle out this game. River win a free kick… up steps Reuben… striking the ball low and hard, he scored!
Final score 1-0 to River!
Well done to both teams!
McCarthy Cup 1st round
The A team played in this tournament in very wet and cold conditions! Beginning to gel together as a team they played positive, fluent football which ensured that River progressed to the finals of this cup competition.
McCarthy Cup Final
We made changes to our A team for the final, allowing more of our squad to play
and although everyone played some really nice football we were not successful in reaching the final of this cup.
The whole team demonstrated sportsmanship and teamwork, not giving up and trying their best. Well done!
The Stabbs Cup
We played our 1st round match against Sandwich Juniors. The pitch was not in the best condition due to all of the rain that we have had, however the whole team battled on, and managed to secure the win 2-1with Spencer scoring a brilliant goal to take us through to the next round against Whitfield!
The U11Kent County Finals
River represented Dover and Deal at the county finals in Thamesmead, and we ended up runners up in the competition!
In the group stages we played 2 games drawing both games. We needed to win the final game to take us through to the semifinals, which we did, winning 1-0!
At the end of extra time in the semifinal the score was 0-0. Penalties!
Our keeper, Charlie played his part saving 2 penalties, our penalty takers did their job and scored taking us into the final!
Once again at the end of extra time in the final the score was 0-0. Penalties again!
Our luck run out there and we lost 4-2 on penalties!
Well done to the whole for showing resilience and excellent sportsmanship, you should be very proud of your performance!
League game V Barton Primary School
Our boys and girls teams kicked off our league fixtures with games against Barton Primary School.
First up was the boys A team who played a hard fought match with the final score 1-1.
Next up was our boys B team who took control from the start, scoring some well placed goals! Final score 6-0 to River!
To round off the afternoon of football it was the turn of our girls team. Once again the girls played some lovely pacing football, final score 3-1 to River.
The Stabbs Cup
Our Quarter final match against Whitfield was a very close game. Whitfield defended deep and River pressed for the goal, which finally we managed! 1-0 to River, on we go to the semifinals!
League game V White Cliffs Primary School
All of our squad played in this match, dominating possession of the ball, passing the ball fluently. The final score was 8-1to River!
