Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Personal, Social and Emotional Development is split into 3 key areas:

  • Building Relationships

  • Managing Self

  • Self Regulation

In Term 1 we are focusing on the following areas:

Self-regulation:

  • To recognise different emotions (colour monster)
  • To understand how people show emotions
  • To  focus during short group activities
  • To follow one-step instructions

Managing self:

  • To wash hands independently
  • To get changed for P.E with support
  • To explore different areas within the EYFS environment.
  • To develop class code of conduct and understand the need to have rules.

Building relationships:

  • To seek support of adults when needed
  • To gain confidence to speak to new peers and adults in the EYFS team.
  • To keep play going by responding to what others are saying.

At home, you can support your child by encouraging them to identify and recognise their own feelings and how we show these feelings.
