River Primary School
In our Blue Abyss topic, we will be investigating the question 'What lives beneath the sea and how is it being endangered?' This will include learning about the work of David Attenborough and climate change. We will look at active ways to protect our oceans and will be able to experience, first hand, what making a difference is like on our trip to Margate beach.
Throughout this unit, our key knowledge will be:
- The Great Barrier Reef, on the coast of Australia, is the longest and largest coral reef in the world with over 600 types of coral.
- Corals are at risk of being destroyed by climate change, pollution and consumers.
- Explore the different biomes of the world – The marine biome is the biggest in the world.
- Know and name oceans and seas around the world.
- Know the causes of climate change
- Name ways we can make positive changes to reduce the impact of climate change.
