Term 6

What is an urban environment?

In Geography this term, we will explore Ordnance Survey maps, looking at how we use symbols and grid references to locate a specific location. We will look closely at Dover, through the use of atlases, maps and aerial photos to identify it as a town and major ferry port in Kent, South East England.

Through our map work and own experiences, we will be able to name human and physical features of our local town, and step back in time to see how these have changes over the years.

In art, we will make observational sketches of the Dover skyline, experimenting with different grades of pencil. We will look at the artwork of Banksy, both local and afar, the different styles of graffiti and discuss our own preferences and opinions.

Using card and spray paints, we will each design and create our own stencils to compose a large collaborative piece of artwork inspired by this terms learning.
