Year 5/6 Dover School Games Tag Rugby Festival Friday 8th October 2021

Our year 5/6 Tag Rugby team participated in the Tag Rugby Festival at The Duke of Yorks School. For some of the team it was their 1st experience of Tag Rugby, other more experienced rugby players supported and encouraged, which helped the enjoyment of the festival for all. Once they all go going the display of Tag Rugby was swift, fluent and a pleasure to watch them all perform as a team. Winning 6 and drawing 1 game showed just how much all of the team enjoyed their rugby and playing together as a team. Well done to you all! 

 

Year 5/6 Dover School Games Girls Football Tournament 14th October 2021

This was our girls football teams first tournament of the season. The girls were all so nervous, excited and couldn't wait to stay playing! After much discussion of positions and who was going in goal of they went to play their 1st game, winning 1-0! What a great start... The girls really enjoyed their experience drawing 2 games and losing 2 games. Well done girls! 

 

Year 5/6 Dover School Games Football Tournament 21st October 2021

Our A team played in this football tournament at Goodwin Academy. A fantastic display of football was given by all who played. The team won all of their games playing fluent and accurate football. Their demonstration of  sportsmanship and respect towards their opponents was a pleasure to see. Onto to the next tournament still unbeaten this season! Well done boys, keep up your positive start!

Year 5/6 Dover School Games Cross-Country Relay Friday 21st January 

On a cold, but perfect temperature for running, afternoon our year 5 and year 6 cross-country teams participated in this event. Everyone really put in an amazing show of perseverance and resilience to achieve a 4th an 6th place finish for our year 5 teams and a 2nd and 3rd place finish for our year 6 teams. Well done to you all! 

Year 5/6 Dover School Games Basketball Festival Thursday 10th February 

A team of year 5/6 children played the Basketball Festival at Goodwin Academy. To begin with there was some very nervous children but once they got playing, everyone really enjoyed themselves! The skills started to show and the enjoyment of all of the children was so evident. Well done to you all!

 Dover School Games Swimming Gala Thursday 10th March 2022  - A group of 10 children, from year 4, 5 and 6, were chosen to compete at Dover Leisure Centre against multiple different schools. After swimming in all the heat races, we waited anxiously to hear if any of the River pupils has reached the finals. Amazingly, every final had a member of River Primary taking part. What a team effort!!! Many medals later, River (Year 3 and 4) stood proudly on the second-place podium and the other River team (Year 5 and 6) climbed to the top of the podium for first place! River School won the overall trophy for the swimming event for 2022! Well done Team River!(by Maisie and Charles)

Year 5/6 Dover School Games Netball Tournament Friday 18th March 2022

 On Friday 18th March, 15 pupils travelled to the Duke of York’s Military School to participate in a netball tournament. Both River teams made it to the second round by trying their hardest and although it was tough we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Everyone joined in cheering on all teams when they played their matches. New friends were made and we recognised some old ones. Great team performance River ‘netballers’. By Charlotte

Year 2 Dover School Games Football Festival Wednesday 23rd March

10 very excited year 2 children played in this event. All of the children had great fun, improved their football skills and had a lovely time taking part in sport with their friends! The children left with a certificate and an enormous smile on the faces!

KS2 Dover School Games Girls Rounders Festival

A team of KS2 girls took part in the festival, enjoying the rounders, making new friends and the sunshine!

Throughout the afternoon the girls rounders skills as well as their confidence grow. It was a pleasure to watch them enjoy playing sport and having some fun as well as developing their rounders skills.
