Northbourne Park Football Tournament

This football annual tournament was our 1st competition for our boys squad for this year.

Team A played some good football as they begin to gel together as a team. A great effort by all however they were unfortunate not to process from the group stages.
Team B also played good football. Taking complete control of their group their topped the group without losing a game! On to the semifinals… upping their game ensured a place in the final!

Facing Kingsdown, who we had played in the group stages this started as a very close game. However, River B saved their best football for the final, took control of the game and ran out worthy winners for the 3rd successive year!

Well played to all that participated!

Graham Stabbs Cup 1st round

In the 1st round of the cup we were dawn against Deal Parochial at home. River made a very strong start to the game, passing the ball fluently and causing problems for the away side. At half time River were in complete control of the game leading 4-0. The 2nd half continued in the same way with River converting all of their chances, winning the game 10-0. On to the next round…

McCarthy cup zone round

River battled hard in this round of the cup with a few key players missing! However, demonstrated just what strength and depth we have in our squad ensured that they topped their group and made it through to the finals of this cup! Well played!

McCarthy Cup Finals

This was a very exciting tournament! Once again River played some great football to make it through the group stages. In the semi finals we played Shepherdswell which finished 1-0 to River! In the final against Sandwich Juniors.
What a game… penalties needed to decide winners! Tension could be felt… but River held their nerve and won 4-3 on penalties! Off we go to London to represent Dover and Deal in the next round- well done!

Kent School 7-a-side County Finals at Thamesmead London

For the 2nd successive year River represented Dover and Deal at this county final. The group stages started well winning our 1st game 2-1. In the 2nd game we went 1 nil down but showed great resilience and determination to level the score. In the final seconds of the game Ted shot at the goal, as the ball was heading over the line the ref blew the whistle and disallowed the goal. In our final game we were extremely unlucky to lose 1-0. We hit every bit of the goal except the back of the net! Well done to the whole team-you never gave up trying.

Graham Stabbs Cup

The semifinal… in very wet and difficult conditions we played Sandwich Juniors. This was a very close and evenly matched match, both teams played well. One brilliant moment from Olly, scoring a very individual goal secured the win. Into the final for the 2nd successive year!

Kevin Edwards Trophy

Our year 3/4 mixed football team played in this tournament. In the group stages we remained unbeaten winning 4 and drawing 1. Their continued playing lovely football in the semifinals winning 2-0! The final was a very close and exciting game but we unfortunate to lose 2-0 to St.Faiths. A brilliant afternoon for all involved.

Girls Hammond Cup

This was our 1st match and was our building block! We were unfortunately beaten 9-0! But we learnt a lot for this experience.

Girls and Boys league games

This term we have completed all of our league matches. The girls have grown in confidence and are developing a love for football which is lovely to witness. They lost 4 matches and won 1. We are continuing our development ready for next season.

Our boys squad have also been busy playing! River Rangers won 5 games and were extremely unlucky to lose 1 game. River Colts remained unbeaten all season! We wait for the final league positions to be be published. Well done to you all

Graham Stabbs Cup

River Rangers have been part of this cup competition. We played Sandwich Juniors in the semifinals on a very waterlogged and muddy pitch! One wonder goal from Olly secured our place in the final in term 5 against Shepherdswell!

Graham Stabbs Cup Final

Our last match of the season and what a great performance the whole team put in to secure the win!
The match against Shepherdswell stared quickly with River scoring in the first few minutes. River were 3-0 up at half time. The final score was 4-2 to River retaining this cup for the 3rd successive season!
