Blue Abyss

Grab your wetsuit! We’re going on a deep sea adventure.
Through our studies in Science, we will gain an insight into the ocean world. We’ll sketch different creatures and find out if all sea creature are the same. Using maps, globes and atlases, we’ll identify the world’s oceans and seas. We’ll also find different ways of grouping living things. We’ll research David Attenborough and write biographies about his exciting explorations of the natural world. We’ll study Antony Gormley’s Another Place sculpture, then design and create our own. We'll have the chance to make a difference by visiting Margate Main Sands, where we will undertake a beach clean, submitting our data to the Marine Conservation Society. After locating the Great Barrier Reef on a map, we’ll learn about the risks it faces.
Towards the end of term, we’ll invite you to
attend our 'Save the world's oceans' assembly where we will share our learning as part of our Blue Abyss topic, as well as the actions we have taken towards achieving the Plastic Clever Schools Award through the Clean Seas organisation.
