Northbourne Park Football Tournament Tuesday 11th October 2022
Our football team attended this annual event as defending champions! It was our 1st tournament of the new season and what a fantastic performance from our team!
The whole team played really exciting and fluent football cruising through the 1st round unbeaten and without conceding a goal.
The semi final started as a close game but River soon stepped up the pace, going on to win comfortably 6-1!
The final was a repeat of last years game against the hosts Northbourne Park, it was a brilliant game with both teams really going for the win! River conceded their 1st goal of the tournament-but then showed some excellent teamwork, resilience and determination not to give up finally winning 2-1and champions for a 2nd year running! Well done to you all.
Tuesday 18th October McCarthy Cup 1st round
Our football team continued their good start to the season by making it through to the finals of this cup.
Once again the whole team played fluent football, supporting their team mates to put in a great whole team performance! Keep going boys as you go to the next round!
Monday 28th November 2022 McCarthy Cup Final
After four attempts to get this final played, due to rain, the game finally was able to be played!
Both River and our opponents, Warden House, played attacking football throughout but it was River who ran out winners! A close score line of 1-0 ensured River march on to the county finals in January at Thamesmead.
Well done and good luck for the county finals!
Monday 30th January Kent County Football Finals
Our football team represented Dover and Deal at this event at Sporting Club Thamesmead. Out boys demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and determination throughout the whole tournament. We may not have progressed from the group stages however, their effort and perseverance was a credit to them. Well done to you have for reaching the finals!
Monday 6th February league match v Barton Primary
The A team put on a dazzling performance against Barton taking control of the game from the start. The final score was 7 - 0 to River.
Not to be outdone our B team carried on with a great team performance securing the win 2 - 0. Well played everyone.
Monday 6th March 2023 v Green Park
Great performances from all of our football teams!
Our girls played 1st developing their confidence and football skills. Final score 0-0.
Boys A team played next and the game started very close but our boys kept playing good football and showed great resilience, Final score 4-0 to River.
Next up our Boys B team, once again all the team played really well and the final score was 2-0 to River.
Monday 20th February league match v White Cliffs
The A team played this match as a league game and the quarter final of Graham Stabbs cup. In total control form the start and playing some lovely, fluent football ran out winners 10 - 0.
Our B team then played and once again in control of whole match, the final score was 2 - 0.
Next up the girls team! 1st game for our girls! Very excited and nervous girls but what a performance from the whole team. So unlucky to be on the losing team 1-0,
Monday 27th February Graham Stabbs semi final
The start of this match was very close, with some amazing saves from the Kingsdown keeper. River then got into their stride, passing the ball around with confidence and accuracy to take the lead at half time. Continuing their performance and pressure ensured that River made it through to the final with a 7 - 1 win! On we go to the final…
Thursday 9th March Graham Stabbs Cup Final
The final was between River and local rivals Whitfield, with driving rain and a fresh breeze the final got under way.
It was a really close game with both sides demonstrating some lovely football skills despite the conditions!
River took the lead just before half time, however at the start of the 2nd half Whitfield pulled a goal back from a scrappy corner kick.
Score at full time 1-1 extra time to be played!
River stepped up a gear in extra time, showing good teamwork, passing the ball around, which paid off as they scored again!
Final score 2-1 River retained the cup from last season!
Well done to all who played in this final.
Monday 20th March league match v Whitfield
The girls team played 1st and made a really positive start. They played some great football at times and never gave, unfortunately Whitfield proved to be a little stronger than us and the final score was 4 - 0 to Whitfield.
Next up the boys A team, once again a fabulous team performance, controlling the game from start to finish. Final score 5-0 to River.
The boys B team then played and carried on where the A team left off! A wonder goal from the half way line from Isaac in the 1st half helped secure the win 2-1 to River. Well played everyone!
Wednesday 22nd March league v Temple Ewell
The A team played this league match putting on a great performance of football skills and teamwork. Final score 8-1 to River.
Monday 27th March league match v St. Richards
The girls team played 1st again and had saved their best performance of the season to the final game! What a lovely way to end with a 2-0 win! Well done girls you have played so well this season!
It was the B teams turn to play this match knowing that a win would ensure River as league champions.
Well played boys - great win 5-0!
River crowned league champions for the 2nd year in succession!
Well done to you all for playing so well throughout the season!
