Northbourne Park Football Tournament
Our 1st football tournament of the season offered the opportunity for all of our football squad to compete in this tournament.
In the group stages both our A an B teams played positive football ensuring that the B team went through to the plate competition and our A team progressed to the cup competition.
Despite playing some lovely football out B team were unfortunately knocked out at this semifinal stage.
In the semifinal our A team played fluent, confident football securing their passage through to the final!
The pressure was on them with River having won this tournament for the past 5 years! The game against Kingsdown was a really close and hard fought game. At full time the score was a draw! Extra time… both teams continued to battle out this game. River win a free kick… up steps Reuben… striking the ball low and hard, he scored!
Final score 1-0 to River!
Well done to both teams!
McCarthy Cup 1st round
The A team played in this tournament in very wet and cold conditions! Beginning to gel together as a team they played positive, fluent football which ensured that River progressed to the finals of this cup competition.
McCarthy Cup Final
We made changes to our A team for the final, allowing more of our squad to play
and although everyone played some really nice football we were not successful in reaching the final of this cup.
The whole team demonstrated sportsmanship and teamwork, not giving up and trying their best. Well done!
