Why should we remember the Maya?

In this term's topic lessons, we will be learning about Mexico: specifically the ancient Maya who lived there. From the food they grew (such as: chilli peppers, maize and cocoa beans), to the buildings they constructed (temples and pyramids) and the inventions they came up with (number systems, writing systems and more!), the Maya were a fascinating people.

We will use this knowledge as inspiration for many of our writing pieces this term in English, and also be working like historians, studying the validity and reliability of sources and considering what life was like as a Mayan.
